[xubuntu-users] Old PC New Wireless

I have an old Acer PC I have installed Xubuntu on. I been trying to get 
a new USB wireless device working and I'm convinced that I need a clean 
install to remove all of the trash from my previous failed attempts.

My problem is that the keyboard and mouse aren't working (1.1 USB 
keyboard and mouse) when I boot from an install CD (including the 
Alternate Install CD) so I can't do a clean install. I did an upgrade to 
Feisty but that simply upgraded all of the old failed packages and 
didn't provide the clean install I'm looking for.

Any ideas?
