Thank you very much for your reply.
Yesterday I walked into the room and found the dying monitor in bits with
my husband snooping around it's insides..whatever he's done, it seems to
be working as it should do, though he's pretty sure it shouldn't be :p
When it starts playing up again I will try your suggestion.
