[xubuntu-users] Can't boot with Matrox G55

Last night when I installed xubuntu on my Athalon 1700+ I could not do so
with my Matrox G55 video card installed. It would not work in the normal
mode nor the safe video mode. Once I swapped the card for an old TNT2 I had
laying around the install was smooth as silk.

Is this a known issue? Is there a work around?
