<p>Thanks for the clarification, I got it now. The target market
for Xubuntu versus Ubuntu:</p>
<ul>
<li>rather outdated (basically: depreciated) hardware, low on
resources.</li>
</ul>
<p>People who just look for a speedier alternative tor Ubuntu on
fast new hardware should install Ubuntu first and then install
the Xfce Desktop Environment on top of it. Maybe starting with
an LTS Ubuntu.<br>

<p>Thank you for your help and good luck with not following the
Ubuntu path for HW support.<br>

I agree with Pjotr. Everyone staying on 12.04 or 12.04.x should
stay with the existing Linux kernel - which can still be bug-fixed
if need be. Support for 12.04/12.04.x continues until next year.<br>

are, well, common, and we can't help them appearing in our
release notes. It's fair to expect we had noted this in the
Xubuntu-specific notes, but that slipped through. At this
point, after four point releases, and with three(!) of them
this issue being unnoticed, I don't think it makes much
difference to change the wording.<br>

However, you're welcome to help us in making sure the notes
are correct in the future. The team starts preparing release
notes usually about a week before any release, and pretty much
final ISOs are available at that time, so you can test them
and join #xubuntu-devel to discuss what should go into the
release notes and what not.<br>
