Jani,

I think this would be a good idea. While all flavors of linux have some kind of community involvement, I think this element is particularly strong in Ubuntu, and (simply because Xubuntu runs on lighter hardware) even more so in Xubuntu. It would be neat to demonstrate how the OS is being used.

Those are the positives of showing how Xubuntu is being used . . . Does anyone have any concerns? Would we limit our "notes" to only non-profit or community-based groups using Xubuntu? What if a business was using Xubuntu, would we - by extension - be endorsing that business if we put their info up on the website? Does it matter if we're "endorsing" them in this way?

For one, Free Geek Chicago (freegeekchicago.org) uses Xubuntu 6.06 on the computers that we sell and donate. People can either purchase a computer (including a mouse, monitor, and keyboard) for $50, or volunteer in a computer work/learning program at our location for 20-25 hours and earn a free computer. The group has only been around for about a year and a half, but it's running well. (Thanks, in part, to Xubuntu.) :)

Hi,

what do you think of adding to the news section on the site announcements of projects
which use Xubuntu? Two prominent examples as tuxlabs and linutop. Or even having a list
of projects with a permalink.
