Hi John, Yes, I'm currently running Xubuntu 6.06.1.  The only way I can manage to install this wonderful distro is using pre-Dapper Ubuntu installation CDs.  I'm concerned about newbies, though, who probably aren't able to install Xubuntu at all (unless they manage to read a post/thread like this and realize they're going to have to use a Breezy or Hoary or Warty CD in order to get Xubuntu installed on their OldWorld Mac).  I'm also concerned about the future direction of Ubuntu, and whether it will continue to allow booting into OldWorld Macs at all.  There's already a dearth of support on the Debian side (for OldWorld and NuBus Mac systems, at least), and since Ubuntu is Debian-based, I'm wondering how long I'm going to be able to run Xubuntu on this old Mac...and Xubuntu seems ideal for these older systems! As for SCSI being the culprit: I appreciate your posting that information.  I've seen that post before, and I'm not quite sure I understand it.  In any case, my system doesn't currently use SCSI, so I'm not sure how that applies to the installation procedure.  Of course, my system has SCSI capabilities, though I don't believe I'm currently using them; I don't have any SCSI devices plugged into this PowerBook.  So would the installer still stumble, even though no SCSI devices are being used? The same install routines are used by all the Ubuntu variants, so this is not a Xubuntu problem specifically.
