It is configurable from settings/session but not advertised enough :) The problem with automatically detecting such capabilities is that there's no reliable method to do so. What we can choose from is whether they should be shown or not in the default install, but either way we have to document in the still inexistent xubuntu desktop guide how to change the settings. As for hibernate on desktops it is useful too until ubuntu boots in < 15 seconds ;) Jani
