<div>So I've completed the install (after having to run a 'sudo apt-get update' command and then the 'sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop' again), and then rebooted my system (for good measure), then logged myself in and ran a 'sudo xserver' command, which didn't. So then I ran the command 'sudo startxfce4'; the system booted -- great. But not without the problem I've seen oh-so-often: the multiple screen. This time, the displayed is duplicated only once, one stretched-out desktop image on top of the other. </div> <div> </div> <div>Does anyone know what I need to do to set this right? I recall a particular string added to my miboot/xboot settings; the one I've used in the past (for my CLI-only Ubuntu install) doesn't work for Xubuntu. So my installation is a long and drawn-out process of reboots and crossed fingers until a CD image finally appears on my Powerbook's desktop.) <br><br>After my last installation of Ubuntu Server, I installed <span name="st">Xubuntu</span> (and, I believe, fluxbox) and after rebooting found I couldn't see...well, anything. It seemed to have darkened my display. I couldn't log in because I didn't have an IP address (nor the ssh server started), so I eventually had to go through the installation process again. Someone in #ubuntu told me it appeared I had a hardware problem, and maybe they're right - my hardware is, after all, an older Mac. Yet Ubuntu Hoary worked just find on this old Mac, and Breezy appears to be good (without X-windows or any other GUI). So I'm currently using the CLI, and I don't mind it (though I'm still considering going the <span name="st">Xubuntu</span> route once a theme is developed).<br><br><span name="st">Harold</span> J.
