Email clients: it is  down to sylpheed{-claws} and t-bird, I use the latter now and used sylpheed 1.X before that.<br>I suppose for sound esd is the way  since it is used by ubuntu and arts has too many dependencies.<br>

gedit is a gnome app so preferably we'll have something else. Mousepad
and leafpad are very lightweight and ok for a basic editor, but
probably not as featureful as gedit.<br>
