Greetings Xubuntu Developers,

Today LTS upgraded my two Xubuntu 20.04 systems to 22.04. I only observed one issue:

After the upgrade and necessary IPL to end up on the 22.04 system, I now have three network top tray icons.

I compared with a VM installation of clean Xubuntu 22.04 the applets in the top panel. I removed one that was not present on the clean Xubuntu 22.04. However I still had three copies of the network icon.

What is the correct way to clear up the triplicate network applet issue?

Also, note... I have pinned some back level Firefox packages from the UbuntuZilla repository. The upgrade refused to start until I commented out the UbuntuZilla repo. Sort of odd... since the LTS
upgrade itself disabled third party repos. There was no explanation of why the upgrade would not begin... just "poof" the upgrade window disappeared. I tried the upgrade several times. Then I
commented out the UbuntuZilla repo, and the upgrade began. Sort of would be very helpful to pop a information box that the upgrade refuses due to software held back to older versions of the packages.

Excellent work, Xubuntu team!

I am thankful,
