"sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"
this does *not* update or upgrade your distribution, but just makes certain
you have the latest updates installed.. address *any* and *all* errors here
then, try "sudo apt-get install libreoffice" and see if that completes
without error.. if not, do you have any PPA's added? what are the errors
specifically at this stage?
i did a fresh install of xubuntu 14.04 less than 20 hours ago, and ran
(basically) these commands without issue, both updating my system, and
installing libreoffice, so, let me know if you have any further issues..
