that sounds great – developers are always welcome! :)
One easy way to jump in is to just stop by in our IRC channel (#xubuntu-devel on freenode) and we can get you started from there.
We don't have docs (yet) on how to contribute to Xubuntu, one comparable online resource would be the contribute page for Xfce:
http://docs.xfce.org/contribute/start
