we see many people who join the channel for support from xchat, we been
saying them to on our installer for years. Xchat or any IRC program looks
different enough from an IM program to give people confidence on joining
and asking, the program is already preset to join freenode and the channels
needed for them to just open the program and be already in a place where
people with some knowledge can help them with their problems. If it can be
assured that it is as easy as "open xchat and ask a question" to use pidgin
I would have no problem with it.
