It seems the problem with window decorations and title bars was fixed,
somehow, two days ago. I am not entirely sure how it happened.

I was looking for an option to change in preferences, tried to install
Compiz, but finally I turned Compiz off, I guess. Now everything is
working just fine, as at the beginning. I am afraid to use Jari's
suggestion and hit alt+f2 though. Thanks for help Jari.
