I would ask how you verify this individual is really the one sending
the email, since anyone could grab an email address and request it be
unsubcribed? By following the procedure to unscribe, the verification
is sent that you are the one requesting the removal from the mailing
list. If the list maintainer removes my name because someone sent an
email requesting it, I would get angry, myself.
Or, does the verfication get sent out anyway? I know if one goes
through the web link at the bottom of every Ubuntu Mailing List email,
it does. That is the reason to go through that link. Spamming and
spoofing what they are today, a verfication should be required.
This is the procedure that every person signing on to the list is
given, when the verification to add you to the list is completed. It
is not as if you are not given these instructions in advance.
From the "Welcome to the "xubuntu-devel" mailing list" email:
If you ever want to unsubscribe or change your options (eg, switch to
or from digest mode, change your password, etc.), visit your
subscription page at:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/options/xubuntu-devel/cjk%40teamcharliesangels.com
You can also make such adjustments via email by sending a message to:
xubuntu-devel-request at lists.ubuntu.com
/END QUOTE/
To get to that email, you signed up for the list, and confirmed that
you do indeed wish to join the list. That took two separate actions.
