RFC: GDM in Karmic

I think 1) includes a lot of rewriting, but I don't believe it's such a bad
option. We would probably have a most secure and feature-rich DM with this
option, compared to 2) or 3). I believe 3) could be good for Karmic, as it
lets you immediately begin working on 1).
Do you have an accurate idea of how much work it would require, or any idea
how we could help for 1) ?
