I agree. I think I'd prefer that even for hardy so we do not carry that 
for 3 years in a LTS for too little benefit.  Same for evince. More 
useful projects would be making those upstream projects gtk only. It is 
not as much effort now as it was a few years ago, gtk and other helper 
libraries are slowly making libgnome less relevant.
