Told the individual to email the appropriate address, not go there.
Since you have to verify your email address when you
subscribe/unsubcribe to the mailing lists, it is not possible for
anyone else to do so.

As for the list maintainer, I don't know how busy they are, nor whether
or not they see every email to determine if it is an unsubscribe
request. I believe if the individual was able to subscribe, he/she
should be able to follow correct procedure to unsubscribe.
