I agreee that Gutsy's desktop background was an excellent work and that it
had a huge part in the improvement in looks that could be observed.
I would strongly suggest to leave it or make the new background similar in
design to it.

The proposed background seems to be of much worse quality -- the first
idea is a broken lcd screen. Also, the colors are too dark and too
saturated -- especially in contrast with the relatively bright gtk theme.

Sorry to butt in, a great pice of work otherwise!
