macuto, that's quite a screenshot. Thanks for your help I think the
person was confused by your comment because he read it as "JC Nash  is
employed by macuto." Just fyi.

I attached my screenshot which shows that I have the same packages
installed on amd64 and that not only can I not open a file a.xls (which
I will attach in the next post) as seen by the "Unsupported file format"
but I don't even have Excel file options at all in Open or Save As...
