Is Xubuntu dead? (was Re: musicvideosphotos)

I'm wondering about this too.  I can't see what the point of Xubuntu might be if its essentially Gnome (and Gnome apps) with the XFCE desktop.

I'm glad other users are realizing the (bad) direction Xubuntu is taking. If Xubuntu is shipped with the same gnome apps and gnome stuff of Ubuntu which reasons are there to use Xubuntu, XFCE only?
