I also think its a good idea. I actually think it would do a lot to revive Xubuntu development. Having a greater number of sponsors who can help get Xubuntu packages uploaded can only help and not hinder Xubuntu's progress, with the end goal of making it easier for Xubuntu developers to get MOTU upload rights, and work on the derivative directly.
