System Tools tell me "The configuration could not be loaded..."

Hi,
I have a problem. After Alternate CD installation, the systemtools (like the
one to configure the network cards) worked from the menu. Than I did a
upgrade of all available packages and now I allways get this message when I
try to start these tools: "The configuration could not be loaded / You are
not allowed to access the system configuration. " I can however do "sudo
xterm" and then in this new terminal type "network-admin". Then I get the
systemtool.
Can somebody help me here?
