I can agree that Xubuntu needs to look -at least- a bit like Ubuntu, but 
I really dislike both the current and future artwork (as posted on the 
wiki).

The splash theme is the first thing a user will see and it's not very 
'artistic' at the moment...

Take SAM Linux for example[1]. They have a really nice, unified, full 
screen and 'fresh' default theme/branding going on! From a graphical 
grub to the desktop in one unified color setting.

"Press escape (or F2) for verbose mode" during boot is also something I 
really, really miss in *ubuntu. IMHO is this a necessity as it can 
automatically switch to verbose mode on error/warning...
