I think that this is a good solution.  I'd like to say that we have
been over these questions before repeated: the gnome deps in yelp are
things like libbeagle for searching etc.  you could take out the
beagle lib but then you would need to add functionality some other
way.  Jim and I have met on several occasions in person to talk about
(and work) on the documentation for Gutsy.  The reason we are pushing
for the x-d-b is because we have found this to be the best solution.
I hope development continues so that we can have this completed by the
release of Gutsy.
