Did you test these to make sure they look ok on boot? The progress bar and
some other small PNG is
missing also. It would be better if you could test these on your computer
after drawing them so we don't have to
do small iterations of small polish uploads, or at least not too many.

$sudo apt-get build-dep xubuntu-artwork-usplash
$sudo apt-get source xubuntu-artwork-usplash
cd to xubuntu-artwork-usplash dir
replace the PNGs with yours
$debuild -us -uc
$sudo dpkg -i ../*deb

now set this up as the default artwork if not already
$sudo update-alternatives --config usplash-artwork.so
and put it in the initramfs so the kernel sees it on boot
$sudo  dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-`uname -r`

I hope I did not get any of these wrong

now with such labourious iterations you can test the splash until you think
it is just ok for upload.
