Here is each one, verbatim:

max at pseudoCube64:~$ dpkg -l '*usplash'
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err:
uppercase=bad)
||/ Name           Version        Description
+++-==============-==============-============================================
ii usplash 0.4-31 Userspace bootsplash utility
ii xubuntu-artwor 0.11 Xubuntu usplash image
max at pseudoCube64:~$ cat /etc/usplash.conf
# Usplash configuration file
xres=1024
yres=768
max at pseudoCube64:~$ update-alternatives --display usplash-artwork.so
usplash-artwork.so - status is auto.
 link currently points to /usr/lib/usplash/usplash-theme-xubuntu.so
/usr/lib/usplash/usplash-theme-xubuntu.so - priority 10
Current `best' version is /usr/lib/usplash/usplash-theme-xubuntu.so.
max at pseudoCube64:~$

Hope that helps. Thank you for investigating this further.
