To a large extent, same here! (but that you already know ;) )

You'll be happy to know that Jani is working on getting the Ubuntu LTSP
on the Xubuntu CD as well, so that there'll be a Xubuntu LTSP
installation option on the CD.

It's of course, completely up to the user how they want to waste their
memory. If they want to install a KDE or GNOME app from universe, why
not? The Xubuntu policy though is to include only GTK2 applications as
far as possible. I don't think Xubuntu currently has any GNOME or KDE
apps shipped with it.

That sounds like a fantastic idea. I'm surprised it hasn't come up yet.

Single Ubuntu release? No, that CD is too full. Xubuntu is getting it's
own iso though. Not sure if that answers your question though :)
