I don't know if there is already a "standard" Displaymanager,

Thanks for the tip. Btw what is the difference between a login manager and a
display manager?
What does slim not do that gdm does and we may need?
Originally I was thinking of slimming down gdm itself for our needs, but I
will look at this package
too
