Yes I thought about it, see yesterday's mail discussing various login
managers.
The essence of it was that if someone comes up with a nice wdm config we
could use it
instead of gdm. What I like about gdm is that it is better integrated with
booting up, usplash,
and power management among others. For other DMs we'd need to redo the same
work, which is
fine if someone volunteers.
