Dear Scott,

In ubuntu a few patches were applied against libnih to fix a few bugs
when running upstart and/or upstart testsuite on filesystems that do not
support d_type (like xfs, which is also used on one of the amd64 debian
buildd); adjusting to gcc attributes / warning complaints; avoiding
glibc private symbol usage thus making upstart/libnih easier to upgrade;
fixing file-filter bug 776532 which was encountered when writting
upstart-file-bridge; as well as fixing nih-dbus empty list / null
serialisation which is needed for upstart-event-bridge between system
and user session upstart.

Together the complete patch series fix a few significant bugs that are
interesting for Debian, Ubuntu as well as RPM distributions. There have
been a few requests (I think by 3 people) for a libnih tarball release
which includes above fixes as they are required for a fully functional
upstart 1.8 with all bridges & user session init.

I hope you have time to review these patches, apply them and make a
libnih release with them. These patches are also available as a bzr
branch lp:~upstart-devel/libnih/nih.

Full author attributions are in the above branch, the patches are
written by: Stephane Graber, James Hunt, Steve Langasek, Petr Lautrbach
and myself.
