[Bug 999727] [NEW] [backportpackage] -v and -m options don't work

Public bug reported:

Just perusing the backportpackage options (in trunk r1315), it seems
like these options don't work (sorry, perhaps I should have filed two
bugs)

  - -v sets metavar='VERSION' but nothing handles this
  - -m sets metavar='INSTANCE' which is also set by -l — possibly a transcription error which just needs sorting here and in the opt handling code
