Public bug reported:

I am running a lucid host with a hardy guest. "pbuilder-dist hardy
login" then fails to logout with the following error inside the chroot.
Using the same base tgz to log in and out via pbuilder works fine.

# umount: /var/cache/pbuilder/build/6322/proc: device is busy.
(In some cases useful info about processes that use
the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))

Could not unmount proc, some programs might
still be using files in /proc (klogd?).
Please check and kill these processes manually
so that I can unmount proc. Last umount error was:
umount: /var/cache/pbuilder/build/6322/proc: device is busy.
(In some cases useful info about processes that use
the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))

This error only affects chroots; you may want to use
  user-mode-linux to avoid this message.
