Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xfig

Kubuntu version
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS
Release: 8.04

xfig:
  Installed: 1:3.2.5-rel-2ubuntu1

Expected behaviour: character selected from map is inserted into currently active text element.
What happened instead: xfig window disappears from desktop

How to reproduce:
Open xfig, there will be a new blank drawing.
Select the text tool.
Click in the drawing to add a new text element.
Open the character map using the View menu.
Click any character.

I get the following message on the console.

xfig3.2.5: SIGSEGV signal trapped
xfig: figure empty or not modified - exiting
Aborted

The crash does not occur if there is no active text element.

A workaround is to select a character using KCharSelect and paste that
into xfig, however only table 0 seems to be supported.

** Affects: xfig (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
