I'm getting what I think is the same problem.  Stellarium crashes on
startup with a segmentation fault.  This is the text that appears in a
terminal:

adam at a:~$ stellarium

This is on a Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 running Xubuntu 9.10.  I believe
the graphics card is an ATI Radeon 7000. (Before I changed to Xubuntu,
Stellarium worked fine on Windows XP.)
