No, it's not possible to resolve this with dependencies, because it's
not possible to change dependencies based on which kernel you have
installed (and no, linux-headers-generic | linux-headers-generic-pae |
etc doesn't do the right thing here).

My understanding is that this will be somewhat improved with the
resolution of bug #497149 (or at least, it'll print a more helpful error
message), although I've been waiting to fix that in openafs until some
of the disagreements in the bug are resolved.
