Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The FTBFS has been fixed in Debian with my patch

eboard (1.1.1-4.1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * debian/patches/95_ubuntu_gcc_4.4.dpatch added, fixes FTBFS "invalid
    conversion from 'const char*' to 'char*'", thanks to Fabrice
    Coutadeur from Ubuntu for the patch (Closes: #551718)
