I can no longer reproduce the problem as originally reported, because
the x11vnc package no longer lists multiple versions at Debian, nor was
I able to locate any other package in that state.  (Note also the very
recent activity on the possibly related Debian bug #559863 -- this issue
may have been addressed at the Debian API level as well).

requestsync from ubuntu-dev-tools from karmic-proposed seems to work no
worse as well as it did before, anyway.
