This is still the case for Karmic.
After days of trying to get it started, compiling, googling and reading tutorials I stumbled upon this page.
Since there seems to be no solution I'll leave it to that and try another distribution. 
Silly me, thinking it's in the repos and so it will work.

If someone knows a solution I will still be glad to hear it.
