Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: miro
When trying to launch Miro, after ~30 seconds or so I receive an error
dialog stating "An unknown error prevented Miro from startup. Please
file a bug report at http://www.getmiro.com/bug.html" Through running
it via commandline, I discovered that it seems to be a database error
because it throws "OperationalError: Could not decode to UTF-8 column
'status' with text..." to the display. If I move\rename\delete the
~/.miro/sqlitedb file, Miro opens fine once again, though it no longer
has any of my feeds or settings. I have also tried to open the renamed
file up in the Sqlite Database Viewer and exporting it back out to
~/.miro/sqlitedb, but Miro then just does not use the feeds contained
within the database, but acts as if it is the first run of the program.
Thus, I have been able to correct the problem with not being able to get
Miro to start, but only at the loss of my settings and data.
I'm trying this on a laptop with an Intel Celeron 2 GHz machine with 1
GB of RAM, running Karmic (9.10), kernel 2.6.31-19-generic, and no
special kernel modules (intel chipset and atheros wireless). My Miro
version is 2.5.3-1ubuntu1 and was installed from the binary
repositories.
Output of apt-cache policy:
##Begin output
miro:
Installed: 2.5.3-1ubuntu1
Candidate: 2.5.3-1ubuntu1
Version table:
*** 2.5.3-1ubuntu1 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
##End output
lsb_release -rd output:
##Begin output
Description: Ubuntu 9.10
Release: 9.10
##End output
I will also be submitting this to the Miro team.
