i would suggest as a workaround to execute this when the package is
configured.

sudo gzip -d /usr/share/doc/smbldap-tools/configure.pl.gz
sudo perl /usr/share/doc/smbldap-tools/configure.pl

if not hope this will help others (workaround tested and working on
lucid 10.04 alpha2)
