Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vlc

I use Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64 with KDE 4.3.5 and VLC 1.0.2. There is a quite
annoying problem - when watching a movie with VLC for some time the
screen gets turned off and even locked by KDE.

I set up my system to tunr and lock the screen after 10 minutes of
idleness. But definitely watching a movie fullscreen is not right time
to apply any of screen powermanagement.

Here's the output of xset for my system.

ggg at lulz:~$ xset -q
Keyboard Control:

                        fff7ffffffffffff

DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 600 Suspend: 1200 Off: 2400
  DPMS is Enabled
  Monitor is On

As I know such problem can be solved by fake key pressing performed by a video application e.g. every 1 minute, but does there exist such an option for vlc?

** Affects: vlc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
