If there are any examples of "only let one copy of this program run" in
the distribution, it would be nice to know where they are to clone one.
There's no point in reinventing heptagonal wheels. If I knew what to
clone, I could write a utility/script thing which could be used by many
people. Linux is just different enough from BSD (which I'm intimately
familiar with) to make this sort of thing tricky for me.
