I'm using 9.04 on client & server.
Doing apt-get update on the client gives the following (removed non Translation lines from output):

So there appear to be some hits as well as some errors; what's the
difference?

Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/jaunty-security/restricted/i18n/Translation-en_GB.bz2  Error reading from server - read (104 Connection reset by peer)
Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/jaunty-security/multiverse/i18n/Translation-en_GB.bz2  Error reading from server - read (104 Connection reset by peer)
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
