Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10
$ apt-cache policy xl2tpd
xl2tpd:
Installed: 1.2.4+dfsg-1
Candidate: 1.2.4+dfsg-1
Version table:

$uname -a
Linux bishop 2.6.31-11-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 25 06:37:23 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
This combination drives the whole system to hang up in most cases. It doesn't depend on network device (I've tried with intel e1000e device and with old 3com 100mbs fast ethernet one). Sometimes doesn't hang up, but in this case it works slower than 2.6.30 (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/400748).
How it happens (I'm using l2tp for internet connection from local network):
1) Starting network services
2) Starting xl2tpd
3) xl2tpd is connecting to l2tp server.
4) After successful connection it takes a while to first ping to achieve some external host. But the whole system hangs up when external hosts became accessible.
