I think the thing about Live CD's is they are only current at the time they
were initially purchased unless you have updated and burnt a cd with the
most recent version of Ubuntu it is likely in using the LIVE CD you are
using an earlier version - an Alpha version Perhaps. With Live CD's
sometimes it is best to try and get the most recent distribution and burn a
new one and use that.
