Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm-2.20

Just installed Karmic Alpha6 using my old home directory discovered that
I couldnt log in would hear the log in sound but it would only get about
halfway through the sound before dumping me back to the log in screen.
Thinking this may be something to do with old configuration files in my
home directory I reinstalled creating a brand new home directory. I have
discovered that I can log in to the xterm session. There does not seem
to be a failsafe GNOME session though. Not sure what other information I
should provide maybe my video card is the issue it is a Radeon RV610
(Radeon HD 2400 PRO)

** Affects: gdm-2.20 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
