[Bug 432388] [NEW] menu items do not react to mouse-clicks

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xournal

1) Ubuntu karmic alpha 5 (with all updates till 2009 09 18)

2) xournal:
  Installiert: 0.4.2.1-1ubuntu1
  Kandidat: 0.4.2.1-1ubuntu1

3) When I click on an item in the menu (e.g. Save file) I want the file
to be saved or a dialog to open up, where to save it.

4) When I click any item in any of the menus like 'File', 'Edit',
'View', 'Journal' etc. the menu opens but clicks on any menu-items do
not produce any change -> there is no response to clicking on 'File-
Open', 'File-Save' etc.

If I use Ctrl-S it works flawlessly though, so key-bindings seem to work
and also the icons below the menu-bar react accordingly when clicked.
Just the menu-items themselves do not react whatsoever to clicking (but
they are not grayed out).
