Assuming that you haven't worked around this somehow, could you please
run:

  sudo DEBCONF_DEBUG=developer /var/lib/dpkg/info/grub-pc.postinst
configure 1.97~beta2-2ubuntu1

... and post the output to this bug? (You need to type this exactly;
copy and paste if necessary.)
