Upstream is not willing to split the source - I can understand that very well.
And I'm not willing to fork the upstream source to split it. Forking sources is
a bad idea in any case, and you'll have to maintain the fork probably until the
end of your life. No thanks.

There is no problem to ship various clients in one source and upstream would
accept patches to add xgpd/xgpdspeed/...clients written for other toolkits, as
long as they have somebody who maintains them upstream. If there would be a qt
or gtk replacement for the X based clients, I wouldn't mind to drop lesstiff
from the builddeps.
